Ranker, a funded and rapidly growing UGC/Social Media startup is looking for a Lead Developer to help take the company to the next level. This is a rare opportunity to join a Silicon Valley-style startup in the Los Angeles area a relatively small team doing a highly scaleable and interesting consumer web application. Ranker launched in August 2009 and, though still very beta, is already doing over 100K monthly visitors.
Were seeking a hands-on developer with a broad skillset and understanding of high-transaction web environments.
Required Technical Skills:
- 3+ years hands-on experience developing Java applications in a web-based environment
- 3+ years MySQL experience
- Familiarity with Javascript
- Experience using stacks and frameworks
- Experience with our platform Linux, Apache Tomcat, Jetty, Solr, Spring
- Strong middleware background
- Experience with configuring and supporting a production environment
- Some experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JS)
- You can read XML, are comfortable with webservices, JSON and AJAX
Required Attributes:
- A proven track record of delivering successful products
- Deep and broad knowledge, understanding of, and interest in the Web and the latest trends and business models of the Internet
- Experience with product lifecycle development
- Self-starter, team player, conscientious and adaptable
- Strong work ethic and dedication to delivering goals on time
Strong Plusses:
- Familiarity with social media platforms and APIs in the web 2.0 space (Facebook, MySpace/Twitter etc)
- Experience working with offshore teams
- Leadership experience/desire to become a technical leader
- Architecture experience
- Sys Admin knowledge/experience
