This job opportunity is at well positioned (funded) & rapidly growing technology start-up. Our client specializes in real-time Internet video distribution monitoring and control. Their intelligent media control platform enables content owners to manage diverse distribution resources, gain live insights and scale with optimal economics to deliver the best quality online viewing experience.
it is a multi-terabyte scale environment – growing rapidly month over month.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
* Work with the team to build, support and troubleshoot large-scale, Internet facing production service delivery environment.
* Review, maintain, build, support, tune and monitor production MySQL databases
* Ensure appropriate metrics and trending are provided for multiple databases in multiple locations for a rapidly growing terabyte scale storage environment
* Ensure scalability and flexibility of underlying data models as new applications are designed and developed
* Quantify trade-offs and use performance data to drive prioritization of performance issues, identify caching opportunities
* Design and develop tools and infrastructure to enable developers to analyze and write more effective SQL statements
* Dimensional analysis, performance analysis and workload trending as feedback to developers
* Schema optimization
* Maintain and innovate database security practices for confidential data
* Manage data demands across multiple data store architectures (MySQL & Hadoop)
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
* A Bachelors degree in Computer Science (MS or Ph.D. is desired)
* Recent experience with administration of MySQL in a highly available, 24×7, high traffic, high volume web site
* Experience in a high-volume or mission-critical production service environment
* Need to be proficient with MySQL replication, multi-master clustering (HA)
* Experience with MYSQL performance tuning and optimization. (query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning).
* Experience with data warehouse design and implementation.
NECESSARY DATA ANALYSIS SKILLS
* Experience with query optimization tools, query plan analysis, and techniques for finding inefficient queries
* Role model data driven analysis, index optimization, schema optimization
* Experience with data profiling, meta data analysis, data modeling and relational schema design.
* Ability to write lightning quick SQL queries
* Strong analytical, performance, data modeling, design and architecture skills
* Experience with troubleshooting and data manipulation tasks.
DESIRED SKILLS:
* Working knowledge of Linux and basic network concepts
* Linux system administration experience: (RHEL, Kickstart, DNS, DHCP, NTP, NFS, Apache, Lighttpd, SNMP, Nagios)
* Shell and Python scripting experience
