Looking to hire an independent contractor who is a highly-motivated, accomplished software developer and business software analyst. Candidate must be highly-analytical, capable of self-management, working quickly and within a small team. Can do some work from home, but will need to frequent our office in Newton, MA.
The software development environment is largely oriented around Open Source software. The front-end is a Rich Internet Application (RIA), Web Client (Firefox/Firebug), written in JavaScript, using the ExtJS library, DHTML and CSS. The back-end is supported by PHP, a MVC Framework, MySQL, Apache, Linux (RedHat), and OpenOffice.
We need help in several technology areas, a candidate with in-depth knowledge in one or all of these areas is desired:
- Data extraction from MySQL into XML via PHP
- PHP-based MVC frameworks
- Using Eclipse and BIRT for report design.
Initial responsibilities will be for the design of reports using the Eclipse BIRT Project software; Data extraction with PHP into XML; working with customer to ensure reporting needs are met. Experience with the BIRT designer is highly favorable. However, strong familiarity with a similar tool such as Crystal Reports may suffice.
Familiarity with linux, bash scripting, subversion, virtual machines (vmware) is also helpful.
Any exposure to the business of law or experience working in a legal setting is a bonus.
There will probably be some travel and working with the customer to refine the work.
